Gospel of John Basics
- Author: The Apostle John, son of Zebedee.
- Who was John?
- Date: between 70-100 AD; probably 80-85
- Audience: believers (probably outside of Palestine)
- Purpose: that you might believe (John 20:31).
- Jesus nicknamed John and his brother James “Sons of Thunder”.
- John appears to have been a disciple of John the Baptist before Jesus called him (John 1:19-61).
- John was exiled to the Island of Patmos by the Romans. He was the last surviving apostle and the only one not martyred.
