This summer I've been dropping word studies from a book of the Bible without naming it, and 12 of you guessed it. Two people guessed after only one clue! Time to make it official.
The next podcast season is 1 Timothy: Fight the Good Fight and it starts September 2.
Paul has left Timothy, young and relatively untested, in charge of a troubled church in Ephesus. Confident-sounding teachers are spreading confusion. Believers are bickering. The gospel is in danger of becoming little more than religious talk.
Over 15 episodes, we'll watch Paul show Timothy (and us) how to tell sound teaching from teaching that just sounds impressive, and how the truth of the gospel is meant to reshape everything from our relationships to our leadership to our money.

1 Timothy contains one of the most controversial passages in the New Testament (on women teaching and authority). I will explain the main interpretative schools and explain why I've changed my mind and landed on a minority view.
A few other posts from August, in case you missed them:
- Bible Study Terms Every Christian Should Know — a plain-language guide to words like exegesis and hermeneutics
- How to Use Bible Background — background is your flashlight, not your steering wheel
- A Detailed Outline of 1 Corinthians — a good companion if you're finishing that series
- How to Use Commentaries — two rules of thumb before you reach for one
Thank you to everyone who guessed along this summer. It was fun watching the clues land. See you September 2.
