But this study will be different.
I’m a big fan of “micro-exegesis,” the type of Bible study that dives deep into every phrase and thought. There is something very satisfying about leaning back in your chair and looking at a page of text now color-coded, circled and underlined with notes in every margin.
The problem is many Bible students stop there.
Another important aspect of Bible study is connecting all those observations into the big picture.
In this next podcast season, I plan to model that step of Bible study. Unlike our study of Matthew (65 podcasts for 12 chapters), this study of John will cover the entire gospel in 15 weeks. We’re going to examine the major themes and overarching message, looking at why John chose his stories and ordered them the way he did.
This season will provide a super foundation for a detailed study later.
